Four-time Goa Chief Minister and former Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar died on Sunday evening after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. After that he got treatment in hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York.
The center announced a national mourning on Monday, declaring that the national flag would fly half-way across the country. The BJP's senior leader will also be given a state funeral. Goa also announced seven days mourning following the death of the Chief Minister. All schools and educational institutions of the state will be closed today and all the examinations have been postponed.
According to Goa's CMO, Parrikar's body will be kept in the head office of Panjim BJP from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, after which his body will be taken to the Art Academy in Panaji for public to pay final honor and last glimpse of the Chief Minister. His body will be kept for public viewing till 4 pm, after which the funeral will be held in the city's Miramar area. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be in Goa for funeral.
