Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian have killed the commander of Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK), Ishfaq Ahmed Sofi. Apart from Zakir Musa, Ishfaq Ahmed Sofi was the ISJK's big commander in Kashmir. Zakir Musa is still away from the security forces. Earlier it has been reported that he is hidden in Punjab.
Ishfaq Ahmed Sofi was a resident of Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir. He was killed during the encounter in Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir. ISJK terrorist Ishfaq Ahmed Sofi was also known as Abdullah Bhai.
Arms and ammunition have been recovered from him. After the death of terror suspect Ishfaq Ahmed Sofi, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sopore has issued an order to close all the schools and colleges in the area.

Sources added that Ishafq Sofi had joined Harkat-ul Mujahideen (HuM) in 2015, but later joined ISJK in 2016.
In July 2016, after the death of Wani in an encounter with the security forces in Kashmir, Zakir had succeeded Burhan Wani as the head of the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen.
