The Election Commission served a notice on Union Minister Mahesh Sharma on Friday for making personal comments against Opposition during the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.
The Election Commission sent him a notice for allegedly saying Congress President Rahul Gandhi, 'Pappu' and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as 'Pappu's Pappi'.
The Election Commission has given 24 hours to respond to BJP MP Mahesh Sharma and has reminded them that the provisions of Model Code of Conduct prevent politicians from commenting personally of their rivals. Mahesh Sharma had said in the Secunderabad on March 19, "Now Pappu says that he wants to become the Prime Minister. Now the Pappi, Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav also joined him. "The Congress had complained to the commission about his statement.
Even before this, the Election Commission has taken tough action on leaders for improper remarks during the campaign and has banned his Lok Sabha election campaign for regular time.
