Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh and several leaders of his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have been put under house arrest to prevent them from participating in a massive protest against the government run by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The TDP chief and other party leaders were taken into preventive custody on Wednesday morning ahead of the 'Chalo Atmakur' rally against the ruling YSR Congress Party.
Chandrababu Naidu's son was also put under preventive detention at their residence, following an altercation with the police.
Following house arrest, Chandrababu Naidu sat on a hunger strike to protest against Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government. Naidu sat on a fast at around 8 am and said he will continue till 8 pm.
Section 144 was imposed in Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalle, Palnadu and Gurajala, news agency ANI reported.
