Ban on Jamaat-e-Islami: Many leaders detained, Properties Sealed By Authorities In Kashmir

Strong action has been taken against Jamaat-e-Islami, who funded large scale funding in the Kashmir valley, to the terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen. Many of his leaders have been arrested in connection with the Jamaat-e-Islami scam.

More than 70 bank accounts linked to the organisation were sealed the property worth more than Rs. 52 crores in Jammu and Kashmir. The process of sealing property is being done under UAPA Property and Assets Provisioning.

As many as 200 leaders and cadre from the separatist organisation were taken into preventive custody ahead of Article 35A hearing later in the week.

Several institutions of Jamaat-e-Islami have been identified, including many educational institutions, offices, schools.

Prior this,Jamaat-e-Islami has been banned twice due to its activities . For the first time, the J & K government had banned this organization for two years in 1975. While for the second time the Central Government banned it in 1990 which continued till December 1993.

Jamaat-e-Islami organization used to fund large number of Hizbul Mujahideen militants in the Kashmir valley.

Jamaat-e-Islami is a militant wing of Jammu and Kashmir. This is the main responsible organization for the spread of ideology and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. It has been set up by Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the government is trying to identify the properties and assets of JeI for attachment across the state.
