Rates of petrol and diesel are determined daily by oil marketing companies on the basis of rupee-dollar rate and global crude oil prices.
Petrol price was unchanged on Friday (April 26) while diesel prices were hiked by up to 8 paise in major cities of the country.
In Delhi, petrol is being sold for Rs 73.02 per litre, while diesel retailed Rs 66.61 a litre, 7 paise costlier from yesterday's price.
In Mumbai, the petrol price costs Rs 78.59 per litre and diesel costs Rs 69.72 per litre, 7 paise more than yesterday, according to the Indian Oil Corporation website.
Similarly, in Chennai citizens have to pay Rs 75.79 a litre of petrol while diesel costs Rs 70.34 per litre, 8 paise more than yesterday’s price.
In Kolkata, petrol costs Rs 75.04 a litre, and diesel is sold at Rs 68.35 per litre as against Rs 68.28 yesterday.
