Selected fuel retailers will offer a discount of 50 paise per litre discount on petrol and diesel prices to people who shows voting mark on their finger on voting day across all over the country All India Petroleum Dealers Association president Ajay Bansal said on Friday.
This offer will be available on the voting day from 8 am to 8 pm.
A consumer can avail the discount for a maximum of 20 litres of fuel on that day, AIPDA Chairman Ajay Bansal said, he hopes that at least 90% of the campaign's nearly 58,000 businessmen of the association will participate in this campaign. Bansal said that the dealers will bear the financial burden, not the oil companies.
Some employees of petrol pumps will also promote voting via distributing pamphlets and other campaign things. The general elections are to be held from April 11 to 19 in seven phases in which about 90 million people are eligible to vote.
There are about 64,000 petrol pumps in India, of which around one fourth is in rural areas. State operated companies control 90% of Petrol pumps.
