SRINAGAR: An army major was gunned down by a jawan on Monday night following a clashes near Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
The major has been found as Shikar Thapa of 8 Rashtriya Rifles. He was duty at Buchar post near Line of Control. Naik Kathiresan G jawan allegedly started firing on Major after an argument over some issue. After the firing, Major Thapa died on the spot.
The cause for the argument is still not known yet. The investigation is in process by the police officials.
Army officials have finalized the fratricidal killing (killing of fellow soldier or superior), stating information were being determined.
The army is likely to give statement over this matter.
As per the police, “Militants fired at Nazir Ahmad Shah resident of Panzath (Qazigund). He is affiliated with the National Conference.”
Police added, “He has been hospitalised and doctors have described his condition as stable.”
