Army chief Bipin Rawat to visits Kashmir for security review


On Wednesday, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat arrived in Jammu and Kashmir to audit the security situation and operational preparedness of the armed forces posted in Kashmir and along the Line of Control.

“Gen Rawat and some senior Army officers touched base at Badamibagh Cantonment territory at the beginning of today for a normal day-long visit,” an Army official said.

He said the motivation behind the Army Chief’s visit was to survey the security circumstance and operational readiness in the Valley.

“The Chief of Army Staff is being advised by Corps Commander and other top officers about the circumstance in the Valley, particularly in the wake of murdering of top Hizbul Mujahideen administrator Sabzar Bhat.

“He will likewise be advised about the circumstance along the Line of Control in the wake of reports of movement at invasion platforms on the opposite side of LoC,” the authority included.

Meanwhile, a General Engineering Reserve Force (GREF) labourer was killed, while two others, including a BSF jawan, were injured today as Pakistan violated ceasefire by shelling mortars and firing on forward posts along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
