Anil Ambani Shakes Hands With Aircel Creating Fourth Largest Teleco In India


NEW DELHI:  Anil Ambani owner of the leading telecom company “Reliance telecom” today agreed to merge its wireless telecom business with its small rival “Aircel” creating the country's 4th-biggest mobile phone operator.

Aircel's majority owner, Malaysia's Maxis Communications Berhad (MCB), and Reliance Telecom announced the merge by signing definite documents.

RCom is India's 4th-biggest telecom operator with almost 110 million customers, while Aircel ranks fifth with 84 million subscribers.The merge has an base asset or Rs 65,000 crores.Both the companies have 50 percent share in the merge and will have an equal representation from both the sides.
