Andhra Pradesh: 4 Spaniards killed in road accident, one injured


CHITTOOR: At Least five people, involving four Spanish nationals died in a road mishap on Saturday that took place in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The mishap occurred in Edigapalli under Punganur mandal when a Traveller tempo taking 13 people strike by a container truck. As per the reports, nearly  eight wounded and three are under critical situation.

The dead people have been found as Moran Molinillo Josefa, 65, Pedrosa Gijon Francisco, 31, Lopez Navarro Maria Nieves, 62, Perez Moreno Vicente, 50 and their driver Sadiq Vali, 49.

The reports revealed that all the Spanish nationals had come to India to volunteer at NGO, Rural Development Trust (RDT) situated at Battulapalli in Anantapur district. The accident took place when they were going back to Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu after making a visit to Anantapur.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu articulated misery over the accident and stated officials to give all necessary assistance to the injured and deceased. He even directed them to talk with the delegation of Spain for essential preparations.

As per Madanapalle DSP V Narayanaswamy Reddy, the mishap occurred due to rash driving by the container truck driver. After the incident, the area was found as accident prone and a caution sign was made. “The truck driver hit the Traveller head-on as he failed to negotiate the curve at Yatalavanka,” the DSP stated.

Chittoor district collector PS Pradyumna has demanded a post-mortem of the deceased. He has directed officials to give their bodies to the kins.
