JAIPUR/ AJMER: The protest in Sanvarad village Nagaur district of Rajasthan turned violent on Wednesday leading to the death of 1 protestor and 16 others wounded. The incident took place after the death of gangster Anandpal Singh. They are demanding a CBI investigation into his killing.
On Wednesday, a protester who died of bullet injury was taken to the SMS Hospital. The reports has not confirmed that he lost live due to the police gunfire. The victim was found as Lal Chand Sharma, a resident of Haryana.
The discussions between Rajput leaders and the government are on into the matter.
As per the report, the strikers conducted protest at the railway tracks near Sanvarad and they even destroyed the railway station. The protesters even put their best efforts to set ablaze the passenger train but they couldn’t able to do that as police forces were deployed in the area.
On Wednesday, Over 80,000 people collected at Sanvarad, the native village of Anandpal to give tribute to him. The protestors stated during the meeting that they would resort the strike until their requirements were not fulfilled.
The protest was also held by Sreerajput Karni Sena.
“The violent confrontation started when the police intervened as the protesters were attempting to set a train on fire.The mob then started pelting stones and thrashing policemen in which at least 16 policemen, including Paresh Deshmukh, superintendent of police (Nagaur), Gyan Chand Yadav, additional SP (Nagaur), were injured. One of the injured policemen was rushed to the SMS hospital in Jaipur,” N R K Reddy , additional director general (law and order) stated.
Ajit Singh, director general of police, jails asserted, “The talks remained inconclusive. We have not agreed to their demands. Action would be taken against miscreants.”
ADG Reddy stated “After the confrontation, a large number of policemen including RAC commandos were rushed to Sanvarad village and the whole village was cordoned off. Protesters were dispersed from the railway tracks and the police were deployed on the tracks,” he said.
Gangset Anandpal was shot dead in a gunfire on June 24. Later, the Rajput leaders carried out rally and stated that if their needs were not fulfilled then the protest would turned violent. On Wednesday afternoon, the strikers set four RSRTC buses on fire.
Anandpal was killed in police firing on June 24.
