CHANDIGARH: BJP Party Chief Amit Shah was welcomed by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) workers and supporters at the airport in Chandigarh on Saturday morning and carried out a roadshow by accompanying him to the BJP office.
Currently, the Bhartiya Janta Party chief is on a 95-day country-wide visit which started in Jammu in the month of April. Keeping an eye over the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mr Shah is going across states to focus and look out ways to reinforce the party at the grass-root level.
Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon, MP Kirron Kher and others welcomed BJP Chief Mr Amit Shah.
During the roadshow, around 200 cars and 500 two wheelers followed Shah from the airport till BJP office in Sector 33.
Shah’s car clogged at several places and he was welcomed by BJP followers who offered bouquets to him.
The BJP national president will conduct a meeting along with councillors, party office bearers, workers. Moreover, he will also evaluate the party’s organisational activities.
Amit Shah opened up the latest-renovated party office and setup a statue of RSS icon Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. He also unveiled a library titled after Nanaji Deshmukh and an e-library too. It comprises of about 2,000 books on several subjects.
Mr Shah is all set to conduct organizational meetings along with eminent people from several fields including medicine, law, finance and art.
After the winning of BJP in Municipal Corporation elections, this is Mr Shah’s first visit to Chandigarh. The elections took place in the month of December. He made a visit to Chandigarh in November for campaigning for the civic elections.
“Chandigarh is the fourth place on Shah’s itinerary for the 95-day tour which began with his visit to Jammu on April 29. The BJP chief has also visited Himachal Pradesh and Tripura,” Mr Tandon affirmed.
