Amarnath Yatra stopped due to heavy rainfall along way to shrine


Jammu: The Amarnath Yatra was stopped on the way at Baltal and Chandanwari due to the heavy rainfall on Thursday. On Friday, it has been recommenced after weather situation got better.

As per official of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), the pilgrims have been facing lot of problem as the way has become very slippery due to heavy rainfall.

“It is raining heavily and snowing on the way to the holy Amarnath cave and tracks have become slippery, forcing authorities to stop pilgrims from continuing their journey for their own safety,” an SASB official stated.

“The pilgrims headed for base camps at Baltal and Nunwan are requested to check the status of the yatra with the control room or helpline set up by the SASB before starting off,” it asserted.

The Amarnath yatra started on Thursday and over 10 thousand pilgrim remunerated obeisance at Amarnath among tight security after information about terror attacks on devotees. It will end on August 7.
