For supposedly sexually assaulting two minor boys of an orphanage for a long time, a Christian minister in Kerala has been captured police said today. The sufferer were staying at “Balbhavan” in Meenangadi where the priest was working, a police official said. Fr Saji Joseph, who was supposedly sexually assaulting the boy’s since March 2015, was captured following complaints from youngsters’ relatives, the authority said.
He was departing suddenly for as far back as three days and was captured from Thamarassery yesterday. He covered up at different spots, including Mangaluru, they said.
The authority said Joseph has been charged under section 377 (unnatural offenses) of the Indian Penal Code, and applicable provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and the Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Act.
Articulations of the youngsters have been taken, the authority said.
The priest had disappeared after relatives of the youngsters complained to the police. Child line experts were likewise informed.
The priest hails from Kottiyoor in Kannur region. On February 28, a Catholic priest had been captured on the charge of sexually mishandling a minor girl who later brought forth a child.
The 48-year-old priest Robin Vadakkancheril was a vicar at the St Sebastian’s Church in Kottiyoor.
