Alia Bhatt has at last opened up about the extortion call that her filmmaker father Mahesh Bhatt got today morning. The performer, who is at present busy promoting her upcoming release Badrinath Ki Dulhania, told a news office that with her dad Mahesh Bhatt by her side she had nothing to worry about. The 23-year-old performing artist was cited by a news agency as saying: “I think the police and my father are brave they didn’t give me a chance to get worried. They just took over. The matter is sorted and solved and everyone is protected and cheerful. As a parent my dad has made me feel safe. With him by my side I had nothing to worry about.”

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt on Wednesday got a death threat from a caller who additionally threatened to harm his actor-daughter Alia Bhatt and spouse Soni Razdan if he neglected to pay Rs 50 lakh. The filmmaker tweeted on Thursday morning saying, “A bolt from the blue as a blackmail call and danger to my family was stopped from developing in any way by the Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh police in tandem. Appreciation.” Mr Bhatt filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police and the caller was recognized to be in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from where he was arrested on Thursday.

Mahesh Bhatt has three kids other than Alia – on-screen character director Pooja Bhatt, child Rahul and Shaheen. He has made some award-winning and critically-acclaimed movies like Saaransh, Arth, Naam, Aashiqui, Jism and Junoon in his resume. Alia Bhatt’s upcoming movie Badrinath Ki Dulhania, co-featuring inverse Varun Dhawan is discharging on March 10. She was recently seen in Udta Punjab and has worked in other hit movies like Highway, Student of the Year and Two States.
