Akshay Kumar recently uncovered a very uncomfortable truth about his childhood. The on-screen character, who was talking at a seminar on women’s safety, additionally touched upon the topic of child abuse while encouraging children and women to converse with their families so they can be protected and empowered. As per reports, he uncovered how he was once “touched inappropriately” by a lift operator at the age of six which still prevents him from using the word ‘bum’. Narrating the horrifying incident, the on-screen character focused on that it was simply because he opened up to his father about the incident, that appropriate action could be taken against the man, who allegedly had a history of such crimes.
Akshay stated, “When I was six, I was going to a neighbor’s home when the lift man touched my butt. I was truly agitated and told my dad (Hari Om Bhatia) about it.He filed a police complaint. Investigations uncovered that the lift-man was a history-sheeter.The cops made a move and the man was arrested. I was a shy child and was relieved that I could talk about this to my parents. But even today, I think that its hard to say the word `bum’. We should encourage women and children to speak up and tell their families if they encounter anything strange so that they can be protected and empowered.
