Air Conditioners by Micromax, Aims to Be Leading Consumer Electronics Brand


After TVs, tech firm Micromax is presently foraying into the air-conditioner classification and expects the customer durables vertical to contribute 20 percent to its incomes by December 2017.

The firm gets a lion's offer of its incomes from handsets, has dispatched four models of split and window ACs, evaluated between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000.

"We had dispatched LED TVs more than two years back and today are among the main 5 brands with around 10 percent piece of the pie… ACs is among the quickest developing classifications in the fragment," Micromax fellow benefactor Rajesh Agarwal told PTI. Micromax needs to be an inside and out player in the shopper hardware space, he included.

"We are dispatching 4 SKUs in windows (one) and split (three) ACs with 1.5 and 2 ton limit. These will be fabricated at our office in Uttarakhand," he said.

Micromax expects around 15 percent of its incomes to originate from LED TVs and 5 percent from ACs by December 2017. The organization shut FY16 with incomes near $2 billion (generally Rs. 13,350 crores). It hopes to clock a general development of around 30 percent this year.

"This year, we hope to make around 50,000 units and one year from now, slope it up to 200,000 units… South India (32 percent) and West India (28 percent) are real markets for ACs, trailed by North India (28 percent) and East India (12 percent)," he said.

He included the organization will utilize its current dissemination channels, including online deals. Online records for around 25 percent of the offers of its TVs and it expect a comparative footing for the ACs, he said.
