Kota: A medical aspirant from Bihar committed suicide in Kota late in the evening on Monday taking the toll to 12 suicides by students of coaching institutes in Kota this year. The victim, identified as Seha Suman (17) of Khagariya, Bihar, hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her hostel room in Mahavir Nagar area in the evening on Monday.
The incident came to light when she didn't turn up for dinner till late evening at the mess in the hostel she was staying. Her neighbour went to inquire and knocked on the door but got no response. Panicked, the neighbour informed the hostel owner who immediately called the police. "Our team rushed to the spot and broke open the door to find her hanging from the ceiling fan," said Ram Swaroop, inquiry officer, Mahavir Nagar Police station.
Till the last report came in police have not found any suicide note from her room or laptop and have refused to make any comment on the possible reason for the suicide. "The body has been kept in mortuary awaiting nod from the family for autopsy. I cannot comment on the possible reason of suicide," said Swaroop, who is also examining the phone calls and Whatsapp messages of the victim. The deceased family is expected to arrive in the evening.
They have recorded the statement of her batch mates and neighbours in the hostel to find out her behaviourial pattern in the last few days. The suicide came as a shocker for batch mates and teachers as Suman was among the best performing students. Since she joined the coaching last year and her average score was always between 75%-80%
A faculty who taught her told media, "She was consistent in classes and has rarely missed classes. Her performance was also among the best performance in the batch. I couldn't recall that she had ever showed any sign of stress as we observe students' behaviorial pattern on every day basis," said a faculty who taught her.
