KANDAHAR, Afghanistan: Nearly 26 Afghan troops died and several others wounded following an attack by Taliban in an army outpost in southern province of Kandahar, Afghanistan.
The violence began when several armed forces attacked the military post in Karz Ali locality, Khakrez district at 10:00 p.m on Tuesday, the source stated.
The fighting lasted till Wednesday morning and reinforcement forces reached at the outpost after the attack in the remote district of Afghanistan.
The primary data revealed that around 25 army forces died and nine other injured in the attack, sources said. It added that nearly 70 soldiers and officers were positioned in the area.
In the firing, many terrorists died and got injured whereas the death toll could not be exactly found as they rescued their victims too, as per the source.
The assailants also recovered a handful of weapons and ammunition from the spot in the province, 450 km south of Kabul.
As per Zia Durrani, provincial police spokesman, the army officers will send the information about the attack to the media soon.
The violence started as the war-weary Afghans witnessed attacks recently by Taliban fighters and Islamic State (IS) affiliates across the country.
Since April, The Taliban has been on the run riot when they unveiled a so-called annual rebel offensive in several places involving Kabul, attacking and wounding hundreds.
