Amritsar: After the allegations on Sucha Singh of taking bribe for allotting party tickets, The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) removed leadership may have removed Sucha Singh Chhotepur as its state convener, but amid all the controversy, he has found a friend in Gurinder Singh Bajwa, Amritsar Zone incharge.
Bajwa who looks after the Amritsar office located in Ram Tirath road and who had accompanied Chhotepur for the press conference in Chandigarh on Friday, held a meeting with ‘volunteers’ at the office Saturday to discuss the sudden change in the political scenario. “We held a meeting of volunteers on Saturday and suggested the party high command to find a solution as soon as possible. Chhotepur is face of the party in Punjab. All the party network in Majha has been established by Chhotepur and his departure would hurt the party badly.
Chhotepur has really worked hard to make the party stand in Punjab. We are hopeful for a patch-up between both sides,” said Bajwa, who had joined the party in November 2013 before Chhotepur.
He said that party observer for Amritsar Romi Bhatti had also visited the office Saturday and that he has been apprised of the situation. “I have conveyed him our sentiments. According to my information, Bhatti has also suggested party to end this issue as soon as possible as it would hurt AAP in the state,” added Bajwa.
Bajwa said that he was taken aback by the recent development and that the party would find a solution to end the stalemate.”We are surprised by these developments. I think trouble starts during the distribution of tickets. Right now we are not thinking that Chhotepur would be expelled from the party. We are sure that an amicable solution will be found by the party high command,” Bajwa said.
