Aam Aadmi Party has taken decision against senior party leader in Punjab, Sucha Singh Chhotepur to show him door. He was caught on camera accepting cash in return for a ticket to a party worker.
Sources said, “The charges has been put against Mr Chhotepur, Punjab unit convenor, and a decision on the matter is expected soon.”
Many members of the AAP party have told Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to take strict action against Mr Chhotepur. But he has refused all the allegations that have been put against him. Chotepur even added that, "This is a conspiracy hatched against me by some of my own partymen… I will disclose everything on Friday," he said.
The sting operation video clip has already reached to the top leaders, Party sources said.
"There is no mercy for corruption in the party and if the evidence has reached our top leaders, there will be action against Chhotepur," said party spokesperson Himmat Singh Shergill.
Mr Chhotepur had fought Lok Sabha polls from Gurdaspur constituency.
A press release was also presented by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday.
"The sting operation has clearly been conceived, planned and executed as part of an internal coup engineered by AAP leaders from outside who want to control Punjab through remote by using their local stooges and inconsequential wannabe leaders," he said.
Punjab's Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said, "All those who have been thrown out by different parties have joined them. How do you expect such people to do good for Punjab? Go and see how traders are struggling in Delhi."
