A traveler and two ground handling staff were caught while supposedly endeavoring to carry gold biscuits valued at Rs. 35 lakhs, out of the Chennai international airport in Chennai today, an authority of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence said.
The traveler who landed from Abu Dhabi by a private aircraft this morning, gave a bag containing gold biscuits weighing 1 kg, to Gautham and Akthar, both working for a private ground handling service, to carry it outside, the authority said.
Based on intelligence, the DRI authorities kept a close watch on the staff and blocked them alongside the traveler.
The trio have been kept for addressing and the gold biscuits grabbed, the authorities said.
