New Delhi : An eight-year-old girl, who was sleeping outside her house along with her family members, was abducted and raped in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area last week. On Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said that the accused, a minor, has been arrested.
The video shows the suspect gagging the girl and taking her away. It is alleged that he took her to a secluded spot near her house where he forced himself upon her.
After the assault, the accused fled the spot leaving the girl nearly unconscious. The girl returned home early morning and slept on a cot without anyone noticing her absence. The girl’s mother raised an alarm after spotting blood on the girl’s clothes and bed sheet. She was then rushed to a hospital, after which the police were informed.
A case under sections 363 (abduction) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at the Aman Vihar police station, a senior police officer said. CCTV footage from several points in the locality were scanned, one of which shows the accused taking the girl away.
The father of the girl works for the BSES as a contractor, while her mother is a housewife. The accused, works at a rubber shoe factory, said Mr. Singh. He is not known to the family, but lives in the vicinity. Meanwhile a case has been registered and further investigation going on.
