The reports revealed that around 1,126 students left 16 IITs, while 55 students dropped out from 13 IIMs in the year 2014-15.
“In the year 2015-16, around 656 students left IITs while 49 students dropped out of IIMs”, the government said today.
“Highest number of students (256) dropped out of IIT Delhi, followed by IIT Kharagpur (198), IIT Kanpur – 47, IIT Madras – 35, IIT Mumbai – 34 and IIT Patna – 22”, according to a data provided by the Minister of State for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey .
Ten students dropped out of IIM Rohtak, IIM Indore (9), IIM Raipur (8), IIM Kozhikode (7), IIM Bangalore had four such cases, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Lucknow three each, IIM Calcutta and IIM Shillong two each, while IIM Trichy had one.
“Due to proactive measures that were taken by these institutions, the number of drop outs from IITs and IIMs has come down,” said Pandey.
The data disclosed that around 1,126 students left 16 IITs, while 55 drop outs were noticed in 13 IIMs.
