Taipei: An earthquake of magnitude 6.4-magnitude hit the east coast of Taiwan on Wednesday leaving two dead and wounding over 100 people. The incident destroyed two buildings and a hotel.

As per Premier William Lai, two people lost their lives in the earthquake in the port city of Hualien and 114 were wounded.

In the earthquake nearly four buildings got collapsed whose footage have gone viral on the social media. It shows damaged roads with debris and breaks in highways.

Images revealed the distorted Marshal Hotel tilted on its side, incompletely collapsed into the ground.

Taiwan’s president Tsai Ing-wen stated saviors from around the island were putting efforts to rescue.

“We will get into disaster relief work at the fastest speed,” she added.

At Least 28 people had been evacuated from the hotel and a housing complex.

“The earthquake is so big… There are cracks on the wall, even the fridge moved,” One Facebook user wrote.
