6.4-Magnitude Earthquake hits Argentina, Chile


ARGENTINA:  Authorities conveyed that on Sunday, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake shake western Argentina and parts of Chile, with no instant reports of damage.

Argentina's seismological institute has conveyed that, the earthquake astound San Juan region at 1757 local time (2057 GMT), striking at a depth of about 130 kilometers (80 miles).

Officials at the administration's National Emergency Office (ONEMI) have also further conveyed that, in Chile, the earthquake was measured at a magnitude of 6.5.

The earthquake was felt in northern and western Chile in the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaiso, 0'Higgins and the Santiago metro area. Cellular phone service was briefly knocked out in San Juan province.
