5 security personnel wounded in Darjeeling clashes


DARJEELING:  Nearly Five police and CRPF personnel wounded in a violence by Gorkha Janamukti Morcha(GJM) activists in Teesta Valley area on Friday.

The attack was held on Thursday when the security personnel went to the village near Teesta Valley and carried out operation in the valley.

The violence took place when security personnel hurled stones on people leading to five people injured. Later, they were taken to the hospital to undergo treatment.

The police had carried out investigation in the area after a impermanent CRPF camp was set ablaze by few activists on Tuesday.

In different incident, the residence of Mirik municipality vice-chairman M Zimba was set ablaze by the protestors on Friday.

The group also checked out Rangli Rangliat police outpost and seized SLR and a pistol. In the incident, two police vehicles were set on fire.

On Thursday, the building of Tung Gram panchayat was set ablaze.

The normal life of people was badly affected in Darjeeling even on the 16th day.

On Thursday, the meeting was conducted by the all-party members. Now, the next meeting will be conducted on July 6.
