17 dead, 40 injured as bus collides with car on Mumbai Pune expressway


MUMBAI : 17 people, including six month old baby were died when a truck and an autorickshaw collided on Mumbai-Pune expressway. The accident happened on Sunday morning at 5:30 am when a bus collided with two cars in Mumbai Pune expressway.

The driver of the swift car was changing punctured tyre on the side of the road. On the first lane, an innova car stopped on the road to help the driver. A bus coming from Satara, crashed into innova car and swift desire. Impact was such that bus fell into 20 feet deep ditch on Mumbai Pune expressway.

When the accident took place four people were in the innova car and they have sustained injuries. The majority of the people who got injured were the passengers of the bus. The driver of the bus lost control while they were trying to overtake from the parked cars and rammed into the vehicle, police official said.

The injured were taken to MGM hospital of Kamothe and Ashtavinayak hospital.
