15-year old killed with Pellet guns, protest started In Kashmir


SRINAGAR: A 15-yr old was killed in police firing that took place in Harwan area of Srinagar on Friday. A curfew has been imposed in Harwan area. After the boy got killed, a protest was carried out by the people in Kashmir.

The name of the person has been identified as Momin Altaf.

He was killed on Friday after security forces used pellet guns on protesting crowds in Harwan. A police official revealed that he died as he got injured by the pellet guns.

Hundreds of people gathered for his funeral prayers.  The tear shells gas was thrown by security forces to disperse protesters but unfortunately he got killed.  

A curfew has been imposed in Harwan and the nearby areas. Restrictions were also imposed in other localities of Srinagar.

In south Kashmir, which has been worst hit by the protests, the Army has recently deployed one additional brigade comprising three artillery battalions. Sources say more troops are on way to contain the unrest.

Atleast two people were died this week and many others injured in a firing by security forces in Bandipore and Shopian.  The death toll of civilians has reached to 85.

The clashes are going on in Kashmir since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani on July 8.
