143 scientists quit DRDO since 2014: Arun Jaitley


New Delhi: About 143 scientists have quit the DRDO since 2014, the administration informed Lok Sabha on Friday, but downplayed the expansion and conveyed the number of those who have quit constitute 1% of the workforce.

Defence Minister in reply in Lok Sabha denied any “noteworthy” augment in the number of scientists leaving the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO).

Provide the number Defence Minister conveyed that 41 scientists left the DRDO in 2014, 42 in 2015, 45 in 2016 and 15 in 2017 until July this year. He further added in reply that 215 Indian fishermen have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy until 3 August this year whereas 200 fishermen were also out in 2017.

Jaitley likewise said that 50,000 Bullet Proof Jackets were obtained by the Army amid 2016-17 through income course. “Acquirement of 1,86,138 BPJs through capital course, under the purchase (Indian) class, is at ballistic assessment organize.

“Further, an agreement for obtainment of 1,58,279 ballistic head protectors through capital course has been closed in December 2016,” Jaitley said.
